Day 51

It is now day 51. Today was an ok day. I accomplished the things I wanted to take care of. First of all, I have officially gone three days in a row of the going my 2 mile run. My original plan was to do it this morning, but literally the minute I walked out the door to head home, it started downpouring. I was like "oh come on!" So I thought about it for fifteen to twenty minutes. I was like "Do I run anyway? I might have a wind jacket to keep myself from getting completely soaked. I usually run in windpants anyway. Hmm." I still needed to get over to community action, and talk to them about energy assistance, but did not like the idea of waking up earlier than I want to just to go talk to them. Especially since, without a disconnect notice, I didn't think they would do anything today. So, I decided I would run during the afternoon. So this morning after I put lex's cereal on the table, I lounged on the recliner and put on the first available episode of Quantum Leap, season 1. I watched those off and on a long time ago, and really liked them.

In addition to putting that series in the instant que, I put one or two others that I can not think about right now for some reason. The original running plan I came up with was that instead of driving to Lex's last soccer practice today, I would go on foot. It's at least 2 miles to the fields, if not more from our house, and then I figured Erin could come in the car with the girls and meet me there. Well around 3, I knew technically I should leave, but at the same time something in me was just not really wanting to do it. Then at 4:10, with the practice starting at 4:30, the coach called and said that because it might rain, she was cancelling the practice, and that she figured since it was the last practice it was no big deal anyway. The funny part about this? Outside not only was it not raining *nor looking like it would simply because of the cloudless sky*, but it was 85 degrees. I called to lex and said "well, I guess I will go for my run afterall. You want to go lex?" Which she did of course, and so we went.

I had to laugh about it, because of 2 things. Cancel practice because 1) you think it might rain when there are no clouds what so ever. 2) you think that just because it's the last practice of the spring season that it means it's no big deal? Wow, I so can't wait to be coaching. No more of this cancelling unless we absolutely can not play! ;) That's how I grew up playing. If it rained, we still played. We cancelled if there was lightning, but that was it.

So today, teagan, lex and I went out for our run at about 4:30 or so. It was hot outside definitely. Erin had lex put her water bottle into a carrying thing, and she ran with that over her arm. It was funny though. Today, being the 3rd day of this, I felt like I could run much easier. The thing slowing me down today was my shins. They were hurting a bit, and so I would run for a while, not really being too winded, which was nice, and then stop because of my shins hurting. I noticed right away that I kept leaving lex in the dust. Teagan and I would run, and we'd hear behind us, lex calling out "I'm walking!" I was like "OK! We'll see you at the corner!" Whenever she said that, I know she was hoping we would stop each time too. At one point, after we were on the river walk path, I got about 100 Yards ahead of her, her yelling at me from behind the whole time "Dad! Wait up! Dad i'm walking!" So I reluctantly stopped and walked for the next 15 minutes, and kept looking back at her. She was not making any real effort to catch up. She was still walking slowly, acting like it was so hot out. It was hot, yes, but lex can also be a drama queen. Ask Erin, I'm a huge heater, and so if anyone overheats, it'd be me. Where as today, I was hot, but I was ok, and Lex even had her own water with her! lol. I was like "Lex, if you don't catch up, teagan and I will keep running ahead." So she did actually run and catch up. Then I said "Why don't you run up to that bridge up there. Then you can walk while teagan and I run to catch up." She did, and we did.

So, it went really well. We got to the end of the path, and both drenched our faces down with the water fountain, then continued down the street towards 3rd st. For dinner, I put stuffed chicken breasts into the oven, and grilled up these bacon wrapped pork fillets. Erin baked potatos and then mashed them with all sorts of good stuff. I know there was bacon, I think there may have been cream cheese or something, and onions, but oh. my. God. It was goooood ;) But I could never expect that it'd taste bad coming from Erin. She's good at what she does. ;) Today we got the package from amazon. We decided to order the first 3 of the "Sword of Truth" series. Those books are long! 800+ pages each! When I'm done with book number 5 of house of night *which I will be starting tonight,* I will be starting book number 1 of sword of truth. Erin's on book number 2 currently. Apparently there is like, 10 books in the sword of truth series. So I think for tonight I will call that it. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.

Day 50

Hello everyone. We are officially on day number 50. The higher the number of days goes, the more amazed I am. I am very happy that I have been able to stick with it, no matter how good or bad I feel. Currently, today is one of those days where I feel pretty bad. Not so much spiritually and emotionally, but physically. Last night, as you may have read about in yesterday's post, I officially began my daily get out there and run exercises. I don't know the exact distance, but I'm pretty sure by the way I have felt afterwards that it is at least 2 miles, if not 2 1/2 miles. Last night when I went, I asked Lex if she wanted to go and she said yes. Then we ended up taking our dog Teagan as well. It went pretty well.

I knew I needed to get to bed earlier, but because of more buffy episodes, of course it was another late night. Ended up being probably around 3 when we finally went up to bed. I didn't go to bed right away though. When Lex and I got done with our walk/run, we both drank lots of water, gave Teagan lots of water and some more food, and then Erin and I chilled and relaxed downstairs. Mistake number 1 I think was that we both had ice cream in the form of a sundae after dinner. I will explain why I know it was a mistake to do that in just a minute.

When we were downstairs watching buffy, I was having trouble hearing out of my right ear. With that, my balance was really off and I also had a very bad headache, the kind where if you put your hand to your temples you can feel your pulse pounding. So, even though excedrine has caffeine, I took two of them because I needed to feel better. By the time we went to bed, the headache was gone, but my balance was still off a little bit. I tried que tips, but that was not the problem. I figured, I needed a shower anyway, so I stood there under the water for a while before doing the basic stuff like shampoo, conditioner and bodywash routine, and by the time I got done I felt 100 times better. My balance was back to normal, I was clean *which is always a plus compared to when you have just ran/walked a few miles.* Erin was already asleep, and I tried to go to sleep. By this point it was already 4 am. I knew I would be getting up by 6:45 because of getting lex off to the bus stop, and kept trying to clear my mind and go to sleep.

Next thing I know, I'm still awake, and it is just after 5AM. I layed there for the next 35-45 minutes thinking to myself "I know I said I wanted to go out and do the miles on foot every single day. I hurt pretty bad though. Do I want to get up now and just get it over with, finishing up before Lex's bus will even be here? Or do I want to try to go to sleep for less than 2 hours, get up, and leave to do the run after lex leaves?" But the idea of that sounded horrible to me. Feeling like crap even with stretching, and being tired anyway but unable to sleep, at 5:45 I got up and got dressed in my running gear again and headed out. When I left the house it was right at 6AM. I was almost to the river walk path in less than 10 minutes. This time since it felt like I had literally just been out running hours earlier, I didn't take Teagan with me. He's a big dog and I would worry about working him to death. I'm thinking I will probably take him with me tomorrow morning when I go. The plan right now is to change and head out when I get off work in the morning.

I told Lex tonight that I would probably be gone again when she gets up with her alarm clock because of going for my run. She was like "But I want to go with you!" I was like "Well in order to go with me, you would have to get up much earlier. Most likely I will be leaving by 10 after 6 and hopefully be gone less than an hour." So, will she come with me that early? I don't know. It's always possible but I'm not going to count on it. For me, because of the possible heat outside, I prefer to get it done either early just as the sun's coming up *if not in the middle of the night when it's dark and cooled off*, or in the evening as the sun's going down. Zoe and I went out in the truck around 2 or 3 yesterday afternoon and it was mid 80's outside and we were both sweating. I hurried to do what I needed to do and get home quickly because of how hot we both were. Unfortunately our vehicles dont have charged ac's just yet, but that's on the list of things that need to get done.

The reason why I said that eating a yummy ice cream sundae was a mistake was because of this morning. When I headed out, I decided not to take teagan with me. I thought "let's see if I can push myself and run a lot more of the path than I did yesterday," But right away I noticed that if I pushed it my stomach would probably have not have handled it well. It felt like I had one of the richest dinners in the world and that if I pushed it I would no doubt throw it back up. I didn't want to deal with that, so I would run for a block or two, and walk for a while, then run for another block or two. It reinforced what I was thinking when Lex and I ran yesterday. When we left, she was like "Can I grab a snack first?" I was like "No, let's wait. We're going to have dinner as soon as we get home. It's not a good idea to eat right before you go running." When we got home, literally it only took me 20 minutes to get dinner ready. I reheated the brisket, cut it into strips, toasted bread and made brisket sandwiches. I also cooked up some mac & cheese. However, right away Lex was like "Can I get a snack?" I was like "No, I'm making dinner, It'll be ready really soon." "But i'm staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarving," She said. "I know, me too, hense why I'm hurrying to make dinner." XD She's the type of kid that if she snacks before dinner, then dinner might get mostly left on the plate.

So this morning lex had no idea that I had gone back out for another run. She didn't know where I was though. At 7:08 when I came back inside, she was eating a bowl of cereal, and she was like "Oh! You went for another run?" "Yup! I couldn't sleep and I know it needed to get done, so I decided I would go ahead and do it." "You should have woke me up! I would have gone with you!" she said. "Yeah but lex, I left at 6." "Oh." LOL. I think she is "willing" and "wanting" to go, but when you mention some of the early times, its like "oh." :)

In closing, the way I look at it is like this. I will do this every day, and try my best when the civil service testing happens. All I can do is my best. Will I pass? I don't know. I'd like to say yes, but all I can say is I will do my best. Whether or not I pass and get hired, I will force myself to keep the mind set that "I need to do this every day with only every so often skipping a day, to keep on track with the diet and weight loss goal." It's really tough though. My joints are stiff, and my muscles are aching really bad right now. This morning when Lex left for school, Zoe was not scheduled for day care and so I knew that if I went to bed it'd only be like 2 or 3 hours before I would have to get up. So, I stayed up, and got Zoe up, figuring that maybe around noon I'd put her down for a nap,and crash myself. I still need to get over to the community action place here in clinton to go forward with the energy assistance, but for me it always works out better to get somewhere like that mid afternoon like 2ish. To get over there early in the day just seems so damn difficult. Erin wanted me to do it today, and I found myself dozing off on the recliner with Zoe on me, and I texted Erin at work saying that I would plan to get over there hopefully early afternoon tomorrow to get the necesary steps taken for the energy assistance.

I said that I was so tired that I was going to put Zoe down for a nap, and crash, and just plan for it tomorrow. The part that also cuts into my plans sometimes is me getting lex to school. If I could come home from work and go right to bed, I would be in bed by 6:15, and that makes it so much easier to get somewhere by 1 or 2. But when I get her off to school, I don't get to bed till almost 8, and so to get somewhere by 1 means only 4 hours of sleep. That's fine and dandy if I know I can get atleast a 2 hour nap before work, because 4 hours of sleep sucks when I try to work overnight. I guess that is what I am on today, but I woke up at 4:30 so it's more recent, which helps. Thank God for Mountain Dew. :) So I will call that it for tonight. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.

Day 49

Good evening everybody. Today was a pretty ok day. This morning, Lex got up, but didn't get fully ready till about 7:35. Suddenly she was on the bed next to me saying "Daddy I'm ready to go." I looked at the time and thought "Shit, it's 7:35!" I gave her a (to-go) breakfast, and grabbed my keyes. When we first got downstairs I looked down the street to the bus stop and the kids were still waiting for the bus but I figured that by the time I got lex out the door that the bus will have come and gone.

Sure enough, two minutes later we were walking out the door and the kids were no longer at the bus stop. I drove her to school, and then came home. By this point it was 7:50, and I was thinking "should i do my run?" I wanted to, but at the same time I was thinking "damn I'm tired." I felt more tired than I usual feel after waking up and getting lex off to school. Probably because of only getting a few hours of sleep saturday, and then still being tired sunday so I guess it carried over to this morning. I ended up deciding that I would go back to bed and that I would do my run this evening when it was starting to cool down. Erin went to work at 11, and within an hour or so, I got Zoe out of her room, and had her come in to the bedroom with me. I was like "Close the door sweetie" and she did. My goal was to have her climb up in bed too, and that maybe that way I could get more sleep. However, I stayed awake for a little while because Zoe would curl up beside me for 10 minutes, then get up and start trying to get into stuff like Erin's side table drawer. I'd be like "Zoe don't you dare get into that stuff."

Then I realized I fell asleep when it was over an hour later, and I rolled over and saw Zoe smiling at me while opening a bottle of lotion or something. She's not one of those "open and taste" kids, she's more one of those "I want to open and dump this out" kid. LOL. The funny thing was I had just woken up from a dream that was so realistic. I literally dreamed that I got up out of bed, got Zoe dressed, and that we had gone downstairs and were hanging out watching something on the netflix. Well, when suddenly I woke up, rolled over, and realized it was all a dream, I was amazed. To go from thinking I was already downstairs to waking up and realizing it was not real. Wow.

So I realized when we were watching buffy earlier that Erin was reading my blog from last night because suddenly she goes "go run your 2 miles!" I was like "Huh?" She was like "You haven't done that yet today have you?" I was like "Well, no, but I'm waiting for it to start cooling off. I don't want to go for a run in 85 degree heat." It wasn't much later when I decided to go for the run. I'd say it was just after 8 pm. Lex came downstairs, and I was like "I'm going for my run. Do you want to go?" She was like "yes!" I didn't even know which route I was going to head. I did know that I wanted to do at least 2 miles if not more. As we headed out the door, I thought "hey, let's take teagan with us." He pulls a lot when we try to walk him, at least up until we go a little ways, and he tires out, then he literally will trot right beside us.

So, I decided that I wanted to take the Riverwalk path. I know it's at least a mile or two long. So me, lex, and teagan jogged and walked our way down to wendys, turned left and headed up the road a little ways and then turned left onto the path, crossing the bridge. We went till we were going under a bridge that I realized is the bridge we take to go over to fulton to take lex to her gymnastics. This is the first time that I had gone past this bridge. Half way down the trail, we passed a marking that said "2 miles" but was pointing towards the direction we came from. Eventually I figured out that towards the end of the trail was main st in clinton. So basically, we went south, turned off onto the trail, curved around however many times, then near the end, getting off on main st, heading over to 3rd st, and then down till we got to our house. It was really nice. Of course, I was drenched in sweat when we got back. I would give lex a hard time, she would nudge me in the arm, and then i'd open my arms and say "Give me a hug!" and she was like "NO! EW!" lol.

So, we got back, drank lots of water, and cooked up some dinner for all of us. I carried Zoe upstairs *who was already asleep ontop of mommy* and put her to bed. She hugged me tight as I carried her up stairs. Yes I was still damp from the work out, but it didn't matter. So, this is definitely something I plan to do every day. I know I need to do pushups and situps again but i'm still dying from the last one. It's weird. It's been 2 days and yet my abs are killing me. You'd think I just did more than just 40 situps or whatever. So, i'm going to call that it for tonight. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.

Day 48

Good evening everyone. Today went pretty good. We were up late last night, and didn't end up going to bed until roughly 3AM, so I figured if we were up, then sure we could go to church. However, I knew that having only slept a few hours on saturday, I figured worst case scenario would be that we slept in and just relaxed. We realized what time it was at just after 10 AM because Erin's phone went off. Eric called her phone after trying to call me *but my phone is always on silent when I'm sleeping,* and wanted to know if we wanted to hang out for a bit. He said he and his girlfriend, whom we found out today is officially his fiance, were crossing the river into clinton from mt carrol. Erin told him that we had a late night, but to call us around noon and that we should be up by then.

Of course, we really did not go back to sleep. We decided to go ahead and get up. I opened Zoe's door and she had climbed from her bed to her changing table and was just sitting on her changing table right by her window playing with her woobie. I was like "Zoe love! What are you doing up there! Please get down!" She was like "KAY!" and climbed back down to her bed. Just after she did that, I tried to seperate her bed and changing table by atleast a foot or two so that hopefully she would not try to climb up there again. She's so independent and explorative. She literally, when she gets up from nap some times, will rip through he room pulling out new diapers, pulling the wipes out of the container and spreading them across her room, etc. Every time it looks like a tornado had torn through her room. Of course, "UGH!" is the thought that goes through my head. I try to be like "Zoe, sweetheart, you need to stop getting into everything. All this *i say as I motion with my hand to the wipes and diapers, and then clothes spread out on her floor*, is not a play toy."

Of course, she just smiles at me. That adorable smile. I know she is only 2 years old, but sometimes I hope that by talking to her about something she did, I hope that it is sinking in and she gets it. Does she? Who knows. We will find out as she gets older.

So because of how late it is right now, I'm not going to make this entry much longer than it already is, which I know is not necesarily that long. A few good things have happened inside of me. First, since I take the civil service test in just about two weeks, I have decided that beginning monday *tomorrow*, I want to get out and run/walk (but mostly run) two miles every single day at some point in the day. Tonight just before dinner was ready, *we had brisket, pasta salad and fruit salad, followed by mint brownies for desert, YUM!*, we drove over to the river walk, and went for a walk. We went about half way down, which probably is not quite a mile. I think we would have gone further but the bugs can be pretty bad over there, and so Erin told Lex, who was up just ahead of us, that we were turning around and heading back because the bugs were eating her alive.

So we headed back to the car, which didn't take too long to get back. Lex wanted to run so we told her to wait for us at the bridge. Both Erin and I jogged a little bit, me pushing the stroller with Zoe in it, her giggling the whole time as if she felt like she was in a bit of a roller coaster going much faster than she was used to, but still not really that fast. When we drove back home, I actually had the thought go through my head "I should change into my wind pants or shorts and go out for a run tonight." In a way, the thought that went through my head was "Oh well, I will just start tomorrow like I had planned," but the thing was that I actually had the desire to do it. Will I feel like I'm dying? Probably. But only the first time or two. The more I do it, the better it will be. So, *holds up glass of water*, here's to getting out there and running 2 miles every single day!

Oh! And with that thought, in closing, last night I decided "let's start the pushups and situps so that I can have those built up in two weeks also." The pushup requirement for the test is I believe 28, and the situps is 35, both done in 1 minute timed. The pushups were easy compared to the situps. I pushed myself and stopped when I hit 40. Collapsing to the ground and rolling over to my back, locking my feet under the couch, I started doing the situps. It felt like every ten situps, I had to stop and breath and center myself. I did do 40, but it took so much longer than the pushups. I thought "I will try again tomorrow," but was reminded today that I needed to do that every other day and just build the best that I can. What reminded me? When Eric and Sophie were over, I was on the couch. I tried to get up and both my arms and abs were screaming at me. I guess that's what I get for getting out of it for so long eh! So, *holds up my glass again*, here's to running 2 miles every single day! As well as building up my endurance so I can crank out the pushups and situps! As well as passing the test with flying colors! *drinks the water* One final note before I close. I hooked up my flash drive and did more work on my book. Went from page 98 to half way through page 102. It's coming along great. I can't wait to reach my goal of having it completed and revised, and then working on getting it published! All in good time. So I will leave it at that for tonight! I will write more for you tomorrow!

Thanks for being here!

Day 47

Evening everyone. I'm not sure how long of an entry I will have for you all tonight. Today has been interesting, but good. This morning, I got off at 6 AM. I came home, grabbed a snack, let the dog out, and wondered "should I get the lawn mowed and done with before getting a few hours sleep before the game?" But then I thought "no, I should get a few hours of sleep." The game was scheduled for 10:15, so I figured that 2.5 or 3 hours of sleep would be good to get before the game. Well, when I finally layed down, I did not end up falling asleep until after 7:30. So, when 9:30 came along, I was like "ugh. I don't want to get up," but of course I did get up.

So, 10:15, the game bagan. I noticed more of an improvement with the girls today. Finally got through to them, through telling them to shoot, and through scrimmaging them, that they got down to the other team's goal quite a bit, and took some good shots. In fact! Wait for it! They also kept the other team from scoring on them, and one of our girl's dribbled up not too far from the goal. Erin, Zoe, and I were a little ways away under the shade of a tree, and we yelled "SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!" She looked up, and then took a shot, and sheh scored. WE WON! Although the season is almost over, only one game left that we are making up next weekend, after stepping in to help the coach, I can see the that we have brought these girls such a long ways in such a short time. After the game, I went over to ask Laura about the last practice and last game, and one of the parents patted Laura on the back and was like "Good job coach!" Tonight I asked Erin "Should I be upset about not really being recognized for my efforts with the team?" I told her about the parent saying that to the coach, and how part of me feels that a big reason why the girls have come so far is because I have stepped in and helped out. Laura is a really nice lady, I like working with her as far as coaching the team. Erin said that she's certain that Laura appreciates my help, and knows I have done a lot for the team, and that the parents just might not know for sure.

The way I decided to think about it was this. Yes I may not really get credit for the stuff that I have taught these players, but next season I will be the head coach. So, next season I'm sure I won't have to worry that people don't know that I made a big difference in how well their kids will know how to play the game. So, I guess I have that to look forward to.

Then, around just about 3 oclock, we put Zoe down, and then the rest of us went back to bed for a nap. We had budgeted $100.00 for groceries out of our paycheck, and so I set my alarm for 6:00, which would have been about 3 hours. Of course, Zoe had other plans. About 2+ hours after we layed down, Zoe was basically knocking on her door indicating that it was time for us all to get up. We got up, and after doing some small work on fixing our TV, we went to Aldi's and did some grocery shopping.

In closing, starting Monday, basically I will need to find an area about 2 miles long, and run it every day for the next two weeks. I have about 2 weeks till the civil service testing. I am afraid of the date coming up on me, and being terrified to go because I'm sure that I will not be able to pass the testing. I don't want that to happen, so I have to prepare myself. I think I will call that it for tonight. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.

Day 46

Wow. It is so hard to believe that I am on the 46th entry. Time just flies when you are having fun I guess. Not all days are fun, but most are. The way I try to think about it is this. You will only have things as good as you will allow yourself to. If you think life is shit, then of course, life will feel like shit for you. If life feels like shit, but you keep telling yourself that things are great, that you feel good, that you are doing good, etc, things will start to look up. In the past, when I was with my ex-wife (very rough 4+ years), I went through a few periods where 1) I had allowed myself to drift away from God. And 2) I literally felt like crap. I would go to work, tired as hell, aching all over, thinking "Why does life suck so bad?" Well, when I got involved in a really good church, they taught me that God gave us the gift of being able to speak powerfully. It can be used for good. For example, when I learned about this, I figured I would try it out. It was hard as hell. I'm sure a lot of you can imagine how difficult it would be to say you feel great when you feel the exact opposite right?

Well, That was me. Feeling like crap, tired as hell, in a way, hating my life, when people said "Hey Chris! How are you today?" I said "I'm great! I'm doing really good. I feel awesome! How are you?" I was so far down that it literally took me maybe 2 or 3 weeks before suddenly what I was telling people didn't feel like a lie. I actually felt really good. Not great yet, but it was a start. So I kept going. Another couple weeks, and although life with my ex was never easy or fun, physically, emotionally, and spiritually I was doing really well. You could say that with God's help, through what I had learned, I was able to dig myself out of the hole I was in, and patch the holes that I had in me spiritually.

Now, our words having power can be used for bad as well. In fact, without even realizing it, a lot of people do this. What it involves is usually talking negativity to someone. "You suck!" Or "You're going to get beat out there!" Or "i hope you die!" Or even "I hope you fail!" These kinds of things can actually, for lack of a better word, curse someone. The negative words actually can drag them down, and in some instances, cause that person harm. I can't explain it really, I just know that it is indeed true. So with this little ramble, the lesson is to not only think and speak positively about yourself, but to those around you. Don't be the cause of other's misfortune or bad luck simply because you felt you just 'had' to say something mean to them. Nobody wins that way.

Moving on! We usually mow the lawn at least once a week. I mowed our lawn a week ago from Wednesday, and so it has only been a little over a week. However, when ever I have wanted to mow the grass, minus the few sunny occasions when I had something else going on, it was raining that day and so I wasn't able to. With all the rain, our lawn has grown so much in just a week. I know for a fact that it HAS to get done tomorrow. I'm really hoping it will not rain again tonight or tomorrow so I can get it done. I hate it when there is something I know I 'have' to do, but for whatever reason can't.

Tomorrow morning at 10:15 is technically Lex's last soccer game. However, we are making up at least one game, so we will probably have that next weekend or this coming Tuesday. I guess we will find out tomorrow. There is a second game that was cancelled so I'm hoping that will mean we will still play two. However, the coach from the other team that we need to make up with has not been returning any of our calls, so that game looks like it might not get made up. I don't understand. You agree to coach a team. The player's pay the fee at the beginning of the season in order to be on the team, with the right to play every single game scheduled, and this coach is so not doing his/her job. I really need to get up to the Y and officially get my name down as a coach for the next season. I think they have them both in spring and in fall. I wish they did them during the summer. Plus, the seasons are just too damn short! It started just before May I believe and yet here we are, already at the end of the season. Some day I can see myself forming the official "Clinton Soccer Club" and building up the soccer program here. I want to have normal leagues, with certified referees officiating the games. None of these games with coaches in the middle making the calls *when a lot of them don't know much about soccer*.

So, in closing, there has been progress lately. I remember mentioning that for a fe weeks, I really didn't write a whole lot, especially in my book I'm writing. I did however, as you can all see, come here and update my blog. Well, I prayed a lot about it, and finally was able to get back into working on my book. Over the last two days I have hammered out at least 4 pages. It's all a matter of sitting there, closing my eyes, and letting my mind wander and bamn. The images of the story come to my mind, and my fingers start going.

So, hopefully I will be able to keep this momentum going. I think I will call that it for tonight. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.

Day 45

Good day everyone. Positive thing about today is that it is pay day. Negative thing about today is that it is pay day. Why is it positive and negative? Positive because it's money. Who doesn't like getting payed for the work they do? I know I do! Most people wouldn't mind getting paid for doing nothing. However, in today's world, that doesn't usually happen too often. So, today is a good day because of the bi-weekly time when the company says "We appreciate you! Here! Here's what we owe you for working for us!" I enjoy that side of it.

The negative side is that the paycheck can and most often does disapear entirely on bills and necesities. For instance. The big bill we are now trying to clear is the Electric bill. After the $1,800 that was payed to them, the account remains with a balance due of $380.00 I believe. Not to mention our cell phone bill, which is always high due to the fact that we both have blackberry storms. Do we need to have these fancy phones? Nope. But I have come to believe that I would rather pay a higher bill, and have phones that we are really happy with, resulting in us more than likely remaining with the cell phone provider, rather than us have regular phones, have maybe a slightly lower bill, but not really be happy with them. I guess it depends on what you want to get from the service.

After paying verizon not quite $200.00, we looked at how much we had in our account left. We had enough to pay the full $380.00 plus have like 45 or 50 left over for gas and food, and that was without paying qwest anything. So what we ended up doing is we split it. We payed down the electric balance by half, and payed half of what the qwest bill was. Thankfully most the company's we have services with will work with us, allowing us to split the bill if we have to during the month. And even though it's a slow work in progress, we have an auto payment going out every 4 weeks paying down one of the debts. We have 5 payments to go, but I'm hoping maybe after one more payment, maybe I can call them and see if we could settle it, saving some money and closing the debt sooner.

That thankfully left a little bit of breathing room to get gas and groceries. I prefer to pay the bill entirely. The main reason is that when you pay only half a bill, then 2 weeks later, you pay the other half, by then, you have another bill due possibly. Then you pay half that one, and by the time you pay again another bill could be due, which could easily result in your bill just adding up. Thankfully we have been able to work with them and not have that happen.

I'm SOOO loving the house of night series. This morning I finished book number 3. I have book number 4 with me and will be starting it tonight. So many things have happened so fast. We are looking at not only getting the remaining books in the series some time soon *whenever we are able*, but possibly starting to get the books in the series the Sword of Truth. If you have never heard about that, and have never heard of the tv series called the Seeker, you should check it out! I have not read the books just yet. Erin is working on number 1 on her kindle. But the TV series rocks! They are debating about what they are going to do with it. It was up for being cancelled, but now they are trying to work it out so they can continue it. Hopefully they keep it going! It's another Netflix fav of ours.

In closing, last night I had my head bitten off by one of the staff members. She's not a nurse, she's actually an x-ray tech. Usually she's one of the more friendly staff members here, and I can always come down the hall, see her, and go "Hey Lauri! How are you doing?" And she's always very friendly back. Last night, she snapped at me "I've only had 2.5 hours of sleep!" I was like "I know how you feel." Which she snapped at me again. "Um, actually you don't." I was like "Actually Lauri, I do. I have had many days with only 2 hours of sleep." She was like "Yeah well have you had multiple kids having to come to the ER?" "No? I only have 2 kids and thankfully we have not had to do an ER visit for a while." "Well there ya go." She said and stomped off. I was like "wow. Ok. I'll leave her alone." Some of the nurses were standing there with their mouths hanging open, and when the x-ray tech left, they came over to me and were like "She's been really on edge since last night for some reason." I was like "I see that. I will just not say anything to her, and try not to get her further pissed off."

So, I guess the lesson for today is, well besides the fact that you should get as much sleep as you can, preferably at least 8 hours, when you are sleep deprived, it does not do any good to anyone to jump down someone's throat because of the fact that you are crabby or having a rough day. Yes you might be feeling like complete and utter shit. But by snapping at someone who is just trying to be friendly with you, not only do you feel like shit, but you could make them feel on edge, especially when they see you after that. Just food for thought. Do with it what you will. I will write more for you tomorrow.
