So the last time I stayed here at this Super 8, was like August of last year. When I was last here, and was with my wife and girls, a few blocks away was a restaurant called Winsteads. They have good food but are especially known for their shakes. So probably around like, 7 tonight, I took my laundry downstairs to throw it in the wash. I figured while it was in the wash, I would walk over to Winsteads and get a shake. I get all the way over there, and am basically just across the street from them and I can see that the building has a big "Site Available" sign on the window. I'm like "aw shit, they aren't open anymore!"
Thankfully Dennys is not far from there, so on my way back to the hotel I stopped in Dennys and got a shake and a sampler to go. Then I did a Facebook live while walking back here. Very nice day outside today, but still a bit too hot for my liking. By the time I got back here, the washing machine was done, and I was able to move my stuff over to the dryer. Came back up to my room, ate my food, enjoyed my shake, and had a nice phone chat with my wife. She got pretty upset about stuff going on at her job. It definitely made me think about how much I look forward to being able to not "have" to work a regular job. That's not just for me, I don't want my wife to "have" to work either. Obviously I'll support whatever she wants to do, so if she wants to just switch her job to part time, then that's her choice. Me tho, I don't want to be working a 40 hour 9-5 job and also working on my business. What I intend is to get the business to the point where that's all I do, so the rest of the time I can spend working out, exercising, getting back in shape, hanging with the wife and girls, and traveling to visit friends and family whenever we want.
So on a different note, this weekend I was on one channel yesterday which was all about extreme weather incidents, and then today, I have been on a different channel pretty much watching CSI Miami. the first half of the day, while multi-tasking at times. Sometimes laying in bed enjoying the day and watching the show, and other times still watching the show and being on my computer doing stuff online. Probably around like 5 or 6 tonight, the shows started repeating. The last few shows were ones that were already on today, so when I got my food up here I didn't mind getting busy doing other stuff because I already knew what was going on in the current show.
So, in conclusion, I still don't know what I'll be doing tomorrow. Still no loads on the board for tomorrow yet. There was one, but it was for the 5th, which is Wednesday. So here's what I told my wife were the probably options. If there's not a load till Wednesday, I might look to see whats available back near home and figure fuck it, I'll deadhead (drive with an empty trailer) back to Tennessee tomorrow and spend the 4th with my family, and then take off with a load Wednesday. My plan would have been fine this week if it wasn't a holiday week. Taking off Monday and figuring work Monday through Saturday and continue to work on making the paychecks consistent. Another possible option if I don't drive all the way home is pay more money to extend my stay here for probably 2 days and keep hanging out until I can get my next load. Seems like if I wait till the 5th, then either way I'm going to spend money. I'm either going to spend 120 or so to remain here in the hotel, or I'm going to spend probably the same amount on fuel to get me back to tennessee.

Too much the early bird this morning
Good morning. So when I checked into the hotel yesterday, the lady that was taking my payment was training. The reason I say that is because there was a guy there saying "click here" and "do that" and "type this." When I was checked in, they told me that breakfast went from 6 to 9AM. So I got to sleep probably by like 1:30 in the morning last night, and set my alarm for just b4 8. Hit snooze until 8:30 and then got up and went down to breakfast wanting to be there b4 it stopped at 9. Here's the funny thing. I get down there and I see the hours. Breakfast stops at 9AM Monday through Friday, and stops at 10AM on the weekend. I was like "aw man, I could have slept later."
Oh well. Got me some biscuits and gravy, and some cranberry juice. I sat down with my plate and 2 cups of juice, and realized I had to use the microwave cuz the biscuits were cold. The gravy was hot, but cold biscuits, so yeah, I wanted to warm them up. I literally was away from my spot for about a minute, and I come back and some random guy had sat in my seat right in front of my juice and was eating his stuff. I was like "ok that's weird," grabbed my juice cups and went to a different table. In my head I was like "ok dude, did you not see that someone was already there?" There were other tables that were free but he picked my seat even though there were juice cups sitting there.
So, I admit I slept pretty good. Despite Super 8 being a cheap hotel, as a trucker it doesn't take much for me to be comfortable. Gotta enjoy the little things in life! This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel. The last time, it was about a year ago with Erin and the girls. I was comfortable but Erin was all about how basic the hotel is. I'm like "yeah it's cheap but there's air conditioning, comfortable beds, breakfast, etc." It's always good to look at the positives. In life there are always too many things that are negative that tend to draw your focus. Take me for instance. We are struggling quite a bit financially, and just trying to survive. The wife and inlaws don't believe that I should be committing myself to trying to get a business off the ground online. However, the way I am looking at things is like this. Why settle for how things are currently, and just keep trying to do the best that I can in my current role as an OTR trucker. The way I see it is, no matter if I get my weekly income average up a bit and am more consistent with it out on the road, it'll never be enough. One week might be better, and the next week not so good, then the next week better again. So as an owner operator out here, it's a roller coaster. Good one week, stressed the next, bills paid sometimes, and have to make arrangements at other times.
The reason I'm going into business for myself and my family online is because I have so many hopes and dreams for us. My plans for my family are to not have to worry about how the bills will get paid, if we can afford to take time off to go on vacation, if we can afford go out on the town and do something as a family. I'm tired of not being able to afford to take more than just one day off in a week. I'm tired of having to call the bills and make payment arrangements, or paying rent a week or so late because we don't have it on the 1st. I'm tired of fighting with my wife because she partially lives in the past and compares my income now to when I was driving for Schneider and made an average of $1500 to $2000 a week. Where as, with my current carrier, they don't have the same amount of loads available as Schneider.
