Good day everyone. Positive thing about today is that it is pay day. Negative thing about today is that it is pay day. Why is it positive and negative? Positive because it's money. Who doesn't like getting payed for the work they do? I know I do! Most people wouldn't mind getting paid for doing nothing. However, in today's world, that doesn't usually happen too often. So, today is a good day because of the bi-weekly time when the company says "We appreciate you! Here! Here's what we owe you for working for us!" I enjoy that side of it.
The negative side is that the paycheck can and most often does disapear entirely on bills and necesities. For instance. The big bill we are now trying to clear is the Electric bill. After the $1,800 that was payed to them, the account remains with a balance due of $380.00 I believe. Not to mention our cell phone bill, which is always high due to the fact that we both have blackberry storms. Do we need to have these fancy phones? Nope. But I have come to believe that I would rather pay a higher bill, and have phones that we are really happy with, resulting in us more than likely remaining with the cell phone provider, rather than us have regular phones, have maybe a slightly lower bill, but not really be happy with them. I guess it depends on what you want to get from the service.
After paying verizon not quite $200.00, we looked at how much we had in our account left. We had enough to pay the full $380.00 plus have like 45 or 50 left over for gas and food, and that was without paying qwest anything. So what we ended up doing is we split it. We payed down the electric balance by half, and payed half of what the qwest bill was. Thankfully most the company's we have services with will work with us, allowing us to split the bill if we have to during the month. And even though it's a slow work in progress, we have an auto payment going out every 4 weeks paying down one of the debts. We have 5 payments to go, but I'm hoping maybe after one more payment, maybe I can call them and see if we could settle it, saving some money and closing the debt sooner.
That thankfully left a little bit of breathing room to get gas and groceries. I prefer to pay the bill entirely. The main reason is that when you pay only half a bill, then 2 weeks later, you pay the other half, by then, you have another bill due possibly. Then you pay half that one, and by the time you pay again another bill could be due, which could easily result in your bill just adding up. Thankfully we have been able to work with them and not have that happen.
I'm SOOO loving the house of night series. This morning I finished book number 3. I have book number 4 with me and will be starting it tonight. So many things have happened so fast. We are looking at not only getting the remaining books in the series some time soon *whenever we are able*, but possibly starting to get the books in the series the Sword of Truth. If you have never heard about that, and have never heard of the tv series called the Seeker, you should check it out! I have not read the books just yet. Erin is working on number 1 on her kindle. But the TV series rocks! They are debating about what they are going to do with it. It was up for being cancelled, but now they are trying to work it out so they can continue it. Hopefully they keep it going! It's another Netflix fav of ours.
In closing, last night I had my head bitten off by one of the staff members. She's not a nurse, she's actually an x-ray tech. Usually she's one of the more friendly staff members here, and I can always come down the hall, see her, and go "Hey Lauri! How are you doing?" And she's always very friendly back. Last night, she snapped at me "I've only had 2.5 hours of sleep!" I was like "I know how you feel." Which she snapped at me again. "Um, actually you don't." I was like "Actually Lauri, I do. I have had many days with only 2 hours of sleep." She was like "Yeah well have you had multiple kids having to come to the ER?" "No? I only have 2 kids and thankfully we have not had to do an ER visit for a while." "Well there ya go." She said and stomped off. I was like "wow. Ok. I'll leave her alone." Some of the nurses were standing there with their mouths hanging open, and when the x-ray tech left, they came over to me and were like "She's been really on edge since last night for some reason." I was like "I see that. I will just not say anything to her, and try not to get her further pissed off."
So, I guess the lesson for today is, well besides the fact that you should get as much sleep as you can, preferably at least 8 hours, when you are sleep deprived, it does not do any good to anyone to jump down someone's throat because of the fact that you are crabby or having a rough day. Yes you might be feeling like complete and utter shit. But by snapping at someone who is just trying to be friendly with you, not only do you feel like shit, but you could make them feel on edge, especially when they see you after that. Just food for thought. Do with it what you will. I will write more for you tomorrow.
Thanks for being here.
