Day 51

It is now day 51. Today was an ok day. I accomplished the things I wanted to take care of. First of all, I have officially gone three days in a row of the going my 2 mile run. My original plan was to do it this morning, but literally the minute I walked out the door to head home, it started downpouring. I was like "oh come on!" So I thought about it for fifteen to twenty minutes. I was like "Do I run anyway? I might have a wind jacket to keep myself from getting completely soaked. I usually run in windpants anyway. Hmm." I still needed to get over to community action, and talk to them about energy assistance, but did not like the idea of waking up earlier than I want to just to go talk to them. Especially since, without a disconnect notice, I didn't think they would do anything today. So, I decided I would run during the afternoon. So this morning after I put lex's cereal on the table, I lounged on the recliner and put on the first available episode of Quantum Leap, season 1. I watched those off and on a long time ago, and really liked them.

In addition to putting that series in the instant que, I put one or two others that I can not think about right now for some reason. The original running plan I came up with was that instead of driving to Lex's last soccer practice today, I would go on foot. It's at least 2 miles to the fields, if not more from our house, and then I figured Erin could come in the car with the girls and meet me there. Well around 3, I knew technically I should leave, but at the same time something in me was just not really wanting to do it. Then at 4:10, with the practice starting at 4:30, the coach called and said that because it might rain, she was cancelling the practice, and that she figured since it was the last practice it was no big deal anyway. The funny part about this? Outside not only was it not raining *nor looking like it would simply because of the cloudless sky*, but it was 85 degrees. I called to lex and said "well, I guess I will go for my run afterall. You want to go lex?" Which she did of course, and so we went.

I had to laugh about it, because of 2 things. Cancel practice because 1) you think it might rain when there are no clouds what so ever. 2) you think that just because it's the last practice of the spring season that it means it's no big deal? Wow, I so can't wait to be coaching. No more of this cancelling unless we absolutely can not play! ;) That's how I grew up playing. If it rained, we still played. We cancelled if there was lightning, but that was it.

So today, teagan, lex and I went out for our run at about 4:30 or so. It was hot outside definitely. Erin had lex put her water bottle into a carrying thing, and she ran with that over her arm. It was funny though. Today, being the 3rd day of this, I felt like I could run much easier. The thing slowing me down today was my shins. They were hurting a bit, and so I would run for a while, not really being too winded, which was nice, and then stop because of my shins hurting. I noticed right away that I kept leaving lex in the dust. Teagan and I would run, and we'd hear behind us, lex calling out "I'm walking!" I was like "OK! We'll see you at the corner!" Whenever she said that, I know she was hoping we would stop each time too. At one point, after we were on the river walk path, I got about 100 Yards ahead of her, her yelling at me from behind the whole time "Dad! Wait up! Dad i'm walking!" So I reluctantly stopped and walked for the next 15 minutes, and kept looking back at her. She was not making any real effort to catch up. She was still walking slowly, acting like it was so hot out. It was hot, yes, but lex can also be a drama queen. Ask Erin, I'm a huge heater, and so if anyone overheats, it'd be me. Where as today, I was hot, but I was ok, and Lex even had her own water with her! lol. I was like "Lex, if you don't catch up, teagan and I will keep running ahead." So she did actually run and catch up. Then I said "Why don't you run up to that bridge up there. Then you can walk while teagan and I run to catch up." She did, and we did.

So, it went really well. We got to the end of the path, and both drenched our faces down with the water fountain, then continued down the street towards 3rd st. For dinner, I put stuffed chicken breasts into the oven, and grilled up these bacon wrapped pork fillets. Erin baked potatos and then mashed them with all sorts of good stuff. I know there was bacon, I think there may have been cream cheese or something, and onions, but oh. my. God. It was goooood ;) But I could never expect that it'd taste bad coming from Erin. She's good at what she does. ;) Today we got the package from amazon. We decided to order the first 3 of the "Sword of Truth" series. Those books are long! 800+ pages each! When I'm done with book number 5 of house of night *which I will be starting tonight,* I will be starting book number 1 of sword of truth. Erin's on book number 2 currently. Apparently there is like, 10 books in the sword of truth series. So I think for tonight I will call that it. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.
