Day 56

Good evening everybody. Where do I begin? First of all, I'm still working extra days. So far I have been here since Last Tuesday, so that would mean tonight is my 7th day in a row, and that puts me over 70 hours straight that I have worked Not to mention that I still have at least 2 days to go from the sounds of it. for this pay week alone *since our pay periods end every thursday*, by tomorrow morning when I get off I will have worked 48 hours total. I still have 2 10 hour days to go yet. The plan so far is that I will train a flexible guy for the next two nights, and he will work thursday and friday night. At this point I still do not know if I will then be working again starting saturday since I don't know what the guard coverage will be, if this flex guy they will try to put him in place of Randy, or what. I called our friend Eric, who used to live with us, who I sort of strongly recommended and got him hired as a security guard also. He used to work at the other hospital campus here in clinton before they did away with that contract and now I have to travel nightly from north campus to south campus to check doors once throughout the night, and then later to unlock everything.

He lives I believe a half hour north of where we live, and works 45 minutes south of us, so at least an hour and change for him to get to the security position he works currently. They have already offered him promotion and what not, mainly I believe because the contract over there is slowly going away. The factory he works at is slowly being relocated over seas, and he is the supervisor of the guards out there, and then they have offered him a position at the main security branch when the factory closes. I was a bit jealous at first, thinking "that's awesome. I got him hired, I've been here longer, he comes to me with questions as to who he should call and what he should do and they promote 'him'." But then I thought about it and figured that the main reason for it is he's a good guard, he does his job, he covers when people call in saying they wont make it, and then the little detail of the factory eventually closing. So, it makes sense that they are planning ahead and trying to keep him some way.

However, the other day when Randy called in, which was the day before he first no called no showed, Eric was the one that worked with me up here during double coverage. He had commented how he would love to work here, it'd be closer to where he currently has to travel to, etc. Well last night I texted him telling him what was up. Tonight I called and left him a voice mail basically saying "Hey man. Here's what's going on." and then continueing with "I just wanted to let you know, I don't know if Randy will be back. I'm on the third of his scheduled days without him calling or them getting ahold of him. If you really want to work over here, call securitas immediately and let them know. I personally would love to have you working over here because at least I know between the two of us we would be great guards for the hospital. We're both hard workers and we both don't call out of work. Just thought I would mention that to ya, since it may not take them long to assign someone else permanently over here, so jump on it if thats what you want!"

So who knows. Maybe he will call and request it, possibly getting transferred over here. Maybe he wont. it's hard to say. If he doesnt, then its really not any big deal. I will deal just fine with whoever replaces Randy. All that concerns me is that I uphold my good name and good reputation with not only my employer, but the hospital as well.

So, the latest update on book reading. I recently finished book #5 of house of night. Of course, it ended with me wondering what is going to happen next. Is Zoey going to become the next high priestess? What's going to happen with the fledglings back at the school? But of course, we don't have 6 and 7 yet. So when I finished that, I had already brought the first book of the sword of truth series "Wizards First Rule." After last night, I just passed page 100, and I'm loving it. I'm not sure what it is. Lately I seem more into series books. It's like, if there have been multiple books done in a story, turning it into a series, for some reason some of them seem to rock a lot more than the ones that are just single book stories. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with single book stories, but lately the ones I have been enjoying more are the ones where I finish one book and move on to the next. Maybe because the story is better. Maybe it is because I hate finishing a good book and that being it. When you really enjoy a story that you're reading, I want to keep going. I want for all the little details to be explained, and to not have any loose ends, and to close the book feeling satisfied. Most books though, I finish them and think "What about this?" LOL.

So in closing, lately with my extra hours, sleep has been weird. This morning, again I had to get up with Zoe after only sleeping for just under 3 hours. We went downstairs and I put on hercules on the netflix. After watching a few episodes, I cooked up pancakes. About this time, Lex was coming downstairs, having just gotten up at 1PM for whatever reason. I commented "Must be nice to sleep till 1 missy. What time did you get to bed?" "I dunno," she said. What can I say, I try my best not to be, but when I'm tired like that, it's a hard battle to keep from being too snappy. What can I say? I need me at least 5 hours of sleep, 7-10 is much better, but if I get 5 or 6 generally I can function pretty well. Also, after this past month of trying to eat healthier, and except for the last two days, getting out and walking or jogging 2 miles, I guess it's starting to show. Today Erin had touched my abs briefly and then stopped and was like "You're stomach has definitely gotten smaller." So that's good to hear. That was my goal after all, to lose weight, trim down, etc. And the funny thing is I'm doing it by just going 2 miles whether I walk or run, and trying to eat better. No pushups and situps every day or anything like that. Just 2 mile exercise and eating well. See? Anyone can do it if you just put your mind to it and don't give up. Yes I think about juicy cheesy burgers loaded with mushrooms and swiss cheese, as well as think about steaks, and french fries, and arbys, etc, but 1) we lately don't have the money for those anyway so I guess it doesn't matter, and 2) it's better not to eat that stuff too often anyway. Self control is what it is all about. I will call that it for tonight. I will write more for you all tomorrow.

Thanks for being here.
