Welcome to day 69. Today I tried to get to bed as quickly as I could. I think I was asleep by 6:45, and by 12:30, we were all up. It felt good to be up at that time, because I apparently slept really deeply, so I felt nice and rested. So today, we watched a few Seeker episodes. I wanted to see which episodes Mistress Denna was in, and how she was portrayed. I know I had seen them, but of course, I couldn't remember. The movie so did not do the book justice. Richard being tortured and "broken" to the point where he was doing as Mistress Denna commanded him to, in the series it went like this. He was captured, he got tortured, then it went to when he killed Denna, escaped, etc. But in the book, he goes through a long time of torture, much more detail, gets to where any time he speaks to her he has been trained to include "Mistress Denna" in whatever he says. For instance, when he first got there, he woke up on the dungeon floor, and saw her sitting in a chair near by. He said "where are your men?"
She said "Stand right over here beside me." He came over and stood. She put on her gloves which had armor on them or whatever, and then whipped around, backhanding him and splitting his lip. She was like "I told you, you will call me mistress, or mistress Denna. Now beg for my forgiveness." He was like "I'm sorry Mistress Denna. Please forgive me Mistress Denna." She was like "That's better. Now ask me correctly." "Mistress Denna where are your men?"
I guess that's how it is with books compared to the film versions is when reading the books, on scenes like that, I couldn't put it down. I was invisioning him in front of her, powerless because she had control of his magic, and seeing how slowly, against his will, mainly because he decided he would do anything to lesson the amount of pain he received, he submitted to her. But in the film, it's like "here" and then "gone", before you really see anything.
So anyway. Today before work, I called one of the bosses at Securitas and asked him if I was definitely going to be off Monday and Tuesday. I said I was just trying to confirm so that I knew for sure. He said "Yup, We will have jeff over there monday and tuesday, and I think we will try to give you wednesday off as well." I was like "Wednesday too?" "Yeah, you're way over on hours already, and you've worked so much, if we can, I think you should be able to take 3 days off. Will do ya good to be off for a change." I was like "I don't mind working the hours, but if that be the case then I'm all for an extra day off as well." Then when I got to work, I looked at the sign in sheet to determine how many hours I am at currently. Our pay week goes through thursday at 11:59PM. As of tomorrow morning, I will be at 42 hours worked so far this week already. If they give me monday, tuesday, and wednesday off, and I come in and work thursday evening, I will have 6 more hours on this pay week ending me at 48 hours for the week. I guess the fact that I will be over 40 hours already before having some days off makes it alright. I will admit. For some reason when he told me I might actually have 3 days off, I actually was sad momentarily.
It's weird. I guess the problem is, I have been working SOOOO much, that the idea of actually being off for 2 or 3 days just makes me feel wierd, which is why I wanted to confirm that i would be over 40 hours anyway. When I mentioned it to melissa, she was like "If you're over 40 hours then you're good and should just enjoy the days off." I said "Yeah, that's how I was trying to think about it."
So in closing, I'm just amazed at how books can take you to a whole other world. Some times the world you're in when you're in a book seems like something that you would only dream about. I notice I have some times wondered what it would be like to actually live in a world like that. It's just my mind working over time of course, but still the thought is there. So, for now I will call that it. I will write more for you all tomorrow.
Thanks for being here.

Ok. couple of things. Wierd is spelled weird ( "i before e except after c").
ReplyDeleteYou have to remember this with ANY adaption. Books are like the pure version of the story, once you translate them into film or series, you get many other's point of views as well. Writers add their bits and opinions as well as the actors, directors and what have yous. That is why it keeps you watching, to see what their versions are and how alike or not they are to your own. It's like that with the Harry Potter series ( the first two movies were dead on to the books; the rest have kept the essence of the books but have taken their own liberties on the story). That's how I approach every series that I have watched ( if it was based on a book series and I have read it).
